At Condustrial, we take pride in helping skilled professionals find meaningful careers that shape the future of our nation’s infrastructure. One of the most in-demand opportunities we’re currently filling is for Traveling Water Treatment Superintendents and Assistant Superintendents — leadership roles that combine hands-on field management with the chance to make a real difference in communities across the East Coast.

These are not ordinary construction jobs. They’re careers that put you at the heart of critical water and wastewater projects, where your leadership directly supports safe, sustainable access to clean water — a resource we all depend on.

Leading the Work That Keeps Communities Flowing

Water Treatment Superintendents oversee every aspect of field construction for treatment and wastewater facilities. These are high-responsibility positions that demand expertise, organization, and a deep understanding of how to keep projects running safely and efficiently.

Superintendents coordinate crews, subcontractors, and materials; monitor quality and safety; and ensure that project schedules stay on track. Every day brings new challenges — from weather delays to logistical puzzles — but that’s what makes this work so rewarding.

Assistant Superintendents play a vital role too, supporting site operations and preparing to take on full project leadership responsibilities. Together, these teams ensure that the nation’s water infrastructure continues to evolve and improve.

What Makes These Opportunities Stand Out

Our clients know that great leadership deserves great rewards. These full-time, traveling positions offer competitive pay and benefits, along with perks that make the travel lifestyle manageable and worthwhile.

Superintendents earn between $120,000 and $200,000 per year, while Assistant Superintendents earn $100,000 to $120,000. Both roles include project-based bonuses, per diem for travel, and paid trips home every two to three weeks. Superintendents also receive a company truck, along with comprehensive benefits such as health, dental, vision, and 401(k) coverage.

The Experience and Training You’ll Need

These are leadership roles, and the path to them is built on experience. Candidates typically have at least 10 years of construction experience, preferably in water or wastewater treatment projects where mechanical systems, process piping, and environmental standards come into play.

A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Environmental Science is a plus, but many successful Superintendents have advanced through hands-on work and proven leadership ability. What matters most is the ability to manage complex projects safely, communicate clearly, and maintain accountability across all job-site operations.

Certifications That Set You Apart

In the water and wastewater sector, certain certifications help candidates stand out. Most employers prefer an OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification and may value credentials such as NCCER Construction Superintendent, Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or Certified Water Professional (CWP) through Texas A&M’s TEEX program.

Some professionals also hold state-issued Water or Wastewater Operator licenses, which demonstrate additional technical knowledge of the systems being built. These certifications reflect a commitment to quality, safety, and industry best practices — all essential traits in a successful Superintendent.
